Hi! I'm Heather...
a people-loving optimist,
embracing the world
through an artistic lens.
In essence, I am a
multiple-hat-wearing
wife,
mom,
performer,
director,
performance coach and
advocate
for human-centric practices,
learning how to wear the hats
(not let the hats wear me).
My Story
I’ve been artsy my whole life: dance, music, crafts, sewing, and eventually theater.
While I started out studying Music Education in college, I shifted directions after two years, earning my B.A. in Theatre.
Since then I've found somewhat divergent pursuits: business and the arts.
I served as the Executive Director for two artistic non-profits, and VP for an international financial giant’s Innovation Department, where I earned a Six Sigma Lean Green Belt for process improvement and acquired valuable business acumen (see my Management Resume).
Through it all I continued doing what gives me energy: performing, directing, and teaching (see my Performance CV). I’m especially passionate about directing and teaching; it fills me with such joy to help others discover and tap into the talents they possess.
I’m beyond grateful that I’ve been given opportunities in the performing arts everywhere I’ve called home (New York, California, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas). Exposure to a wide variety of professionals has helped me develop my own style of directing and teaching.
My guiding principles are:
-personal excellence,
-effective communication,
-cast & crew cohesion, and
-creative collaboration.
I am the creator of Brave Boundaries, a boundary establishment approach and the A2C Practice to de-role (center and ground) performers.
My specialties include staging complex stories of consent and/or non-consent, de-roling techniques, working with youth/minors, board/administration workshops, and intimacy best-practice integration across the entire production spectrum.
Contact me to discuss how we can work together. While I am based in San Antonio, Texas, I love to travel! Virtual coordination is an option, too. Click here to schedule a 20-minute, no-cost consultation.
